Magnet and Traditional High Schools
All eight of Mansfield ISD's high schools earned A ratings in TEA's 2025-26 release. The eight are five traditional zoned campuses (Lake Ridge, Timberview, Mansfield, Summit, Legacy), two application-based magnets (Frontier STEM Academy, Early College HS), and one alternative campus (Phoenix Academy). Legacy High School rose from a B (88) to an A (93) this year, so the district no longer has a non-A high school.
MISD splits into two application tracks and five address-based zones. Magnet schools accept students district-wide after an application process. Traditional schools pull from defined attendance zones. Both magnets scored 99/100 in the most recent TEA release.

Traditional High Schools (Zoned by Address)
Most MISD students attend one of five traditional high schools based on their home address. All five earned A ratings in 2025-26, after Legacy rose from a B. The district also operates Phoenix Academy, an A-rated alternative campus for students who need a different path (score 92, 56 students, referral basis).
- Lake Ridge HS: A-rated, score 96, 2,677 students, Grand Prairie campus
- Timberview HS: A-rated, score 94, 1,683 students, Arlington campus
- Mansfield HS: A-rated, score 93, 2,631 students, oldest in district
- Summit HS: A-rated, score 93, 1,872 students, Arlington campus

Your zoned school depends on your home address. Zones changed for 2025-26. Verify before buying.
Mansfield ISD Middle Schools
Three of seven Mansfield ISD middle schools earned A ratings in TEA's 2025-26 release: Danny Jones (score 92), Charlene McKinzey (92), and Brooks Wester (91). The other four earned B: Linda Jobe, Rogene Worley, James Coble, and T.A. Howard, which rose from a C the year before.
MISD runs 7 middle schools serving grades 7-8, ranging from about 610 to 980 students. Three earned A in 2025-26, and four earned B after T.A. Howard rose from a C. Middle school zoning matters because it sets the high school chain you feed into, and the rating spread between feeder chains is real.
A-Rated Middle Schools
- Danny Jones MS: A rating, score 92, 802 students. Feeds the Lake Ridge HS chain.
- Charlene McKinzey MS: A rating, score 92, 952 students. Feeds the Legacy HS chain.
- Brooks Wester MS: A rating, score 91, 980 students. Feeds the Mansfield HS chain.
Other Middle Schools
- Linda Jobe MS: B rating, score 88, 824 students.
- Rogene Worley MS: B rating, score 85, 613 students.
- James Coble MS: B rating, score 84, 711 students. Feeds Timberview HS.
- T.A. Howard MS: B rating, score 82, 688 students. Feeds the Summit HS chain. It rose from a C in 2024-25, one of the district's bigger year-over-year gains.
Middle School Feeder Patterns
Each middle school feeds a specific high school chain. Buyers focused on a particular high school should trace the path back through middle and intermediate.
- Brooks Wester MS → Mansfield HS chain
- Danny Jones MS → Lake Ridge HS chain
- Charlene McKinzey MS → Legacy HS chain
- James Coble MS → Timberview HS chain
- T.A. Howard MS → Summit HS chain
- Linda Jobe MS and Rogene Worley MS serve mixed zones; check Find My Campus for your address.
Zone boundaries shifted for 2025-26. See Attendance Zones for the recent feeder-pattern changes.
Elementary and Intermediate Schools
MISD runs 24 elementary schools (K-4) plus one Pre-K academy, and 7 intermediate schools (grades 5-6). Seven elementaries earned A ratings from TEA in 2025-26. Ten more earned B, five earned C, and two earned D (Imogene Gideon and Janet Brockett). Glenn Harmon, the district's lone D a year ago, jumped to a B.
A-Rated Elementary Campuses
- Cora Spencer Elementary: A rating, score 94. Highest-scoring elementary in MISD. 613 students.
- Brenda K. Norwood Elementary: A rating, score 93. 830 students.
- Carol Holt Elementary: A rating, score 93. 435 students.
- Annette Perry Elementary: A rating, score 92. 585 students.
- Nancy Neal Elementary: A rating, score 91. 438 students.
- Willie Brown Academy: A rating, score 91. 602 students.
- Thelma Jones Elementary: A rating, score 91. 380 students. Rose from a B (86) the prior year.
The Dr. Jandrucko Early Learners Academy (Pre-K) also earned an A (91). Three campuses that were A in 2024-25 slipped this year: Kenneth Davis (to C, 79), J.L. Boren (to B, 87), and Roberta Tipps (to B, 87).
Intermediate School Standouts
Intermediate schools bridge elementary and middle (grades 5-6). The rating spread is wide:
- Mary Lillard Intermediate: A rating, score 91. Feeds Danny Jones MS and the Lake Ridge HS chain.
- Alma Martinez Intermediate: A rating, score 91, 843 students. Rose from a B this year. Feeds Charlene McKinzey MS and the Legacy HS chain.
- Asa Low Jr. Intermediate: B rating, score 87, 704 students. Feeds the Mansfield HS chain.
- Della Icenhower Intermediate: B rating, score 80, 626 students. Feeds James Coble MS and Timberview HS.
- Mary Orr Intermediate: B rating, score 80, 563 students.
- Donna Shepard Academy: C rating, score 77, 825 students. Slipped from a B the prior year.
- Cross Timbers Intermediate: D rating, score 69. MISD's only D-rated intermediate. Feeds T.A. Howard MS and Summit HS. High economically disadvantaged (73%) enrollment drives the gap.
Elementary school determines your intermediate, middle, and high pathway. Cross Timbers is MISD's lowest-rated intermediate but eventually feeds Summit HS (A-rated). That's a pattern worth understanding if you're looking in that feeder zone. For side-by-side campus comparisons, use the MISD Campus Comparison Tool above. For the 2025-26 feeder-pattern changes, see Attendance Zones below.

Attendance Zones and How to Check Yours
Your home address determines which school your child attends at each level. MISD updated zones for 2025-26, so verify current boundaries before purchasing.
How to Check Your Zone
MISD has two official address-lookup tools buried under the district site's navigation. Direct links:
- Find My Campus — enter your address to see your zoned elementary, intermediate, middle, and high school.
- Find My Bus Stop — assigned bus stop and route (useful when walk distance or pickup time matters).
- For full attendance-zone PDFs by level, see mansfieldisd.org/student-central/attendance-zones.
Recent Zone Changes (2025-26)
- D.P. Morris Elementary now feeds to Cross Timbers Intermediate and T.A. Howard Middle (Summit HS chain)
- Martha Reid Leadership Academy now feeds to Asa Low Intermediate and Brooks Wester Middle (Mansfield HS chain)
- Roberta Tipps STEAM Academy now feeds to Summit High School (was Mansfield HS)
These changes affect home values. A house that fed to Lake Ridge last year might now feed to Summit. Verify before you buy.
Mansfield ISD Ratings by Campus Level
MISD earned A ratings in 2017-18 and 2018-19. Accountability paused during COVID. The district returned at B in 2022-23 and has held the upper 80s since, scoring 87 in both 2024-25 and 2025-26. In 2025-26 all three TEA domains scored a B, led by Closing the Gaps at 88.

New Superintendent: Dr. Tiffanie Spencer
Dr. Tiffanie Spencer took over as MISD Superintendent in February 2026. She is a Mansfield High School alumna and longtime MISD educator (MISD Board announcement, February 2026). In the 2025-26 ratings, her first full accountability cycle as superintendent, all eight MISD high schools earned an A for the first time.
MISD Ratings vs. Texas Districts
MISD ranks among Texas's 50 largest districts. U.S. News ranks multiple MISD campuses in the state's top tier for college readiness and AP participation. Frontier STEM Academy holds the SchoolDigger #1 spot in Texas, a rank it has kept two years running. Niche rates the district 4.2 out of 5, and GreatSchools carries parent reviews campus by campus.
District Footprint and Demographics
Mansfield ISD serves parts of Mansfield, Arlington, Grand Prairie, and unincorporated Tarrant County. The district spans 94 square miles with 47 rated campuses plus specialty programs.
MISD enrollment is 34.9% Black, 27.1% Hispanic, and 48.7% economically disadvantaged, per Texas Tribune's Public Schools Explorer. Those numbers matter because they shape program priorities. MISD runs three Two-Way Dual Language campuses, a dedicated CTE academy, and an alternative high school for students needing a different path.
- 24 Elementary Schools (grades K-4)
- 1 Early Learners Academy (Pre-K) — Dr. Jandrucko

Magnet, CTE, and Bilingual Programs
MISD zoned enrollment is the default, but three choice programs can change your options: magnet schools for advanced academics, the Ben Barber CTE center for career pathways, and Two-Way Dual Language at three elementary campuses.
Ben Barber Innovation Academy (CTE)
Ben Barber Innovation Academy is MISD's dedicated Career and Technical Education center. It is not a zoned high school. Students stay enrolled at their home campus (Mansfield, Summit, Legacy, Lake Ridge, Timberview) and ride a bus to Ben Barber for half-day career pathway classes.
Pathways include health sciences, engineering, culinary arts, automotive technology, cosmetology, welding, construction, and public safety. Students can earn industry certifications before graduation. Ben Barber does not receive a separate TEA rating because students are counted at their home high school. MISD's college- and career-readiness gains reflect CTE growth at Ben Barber combined with Early College HS dual credits.
Two-Way Dual Language (TWDL)
MISD runs a Two-Way Dual Language program at three elementary campuses: D.P. Morris Elementary, Erma Nash Elementary, and Charlotte Anderson Preparatory Academy. TWDL pairs native English and native Spanish speakers in the same classroom. Instruction runs in both languages, and the stated goal is full bilingualism and biliteracy by fifth grade.
The program serves MISD's 27.1% Hispanic student population and English-speaking families who want their children in a true bilingual setting. Seats are limited. Parents apply through MISD's choice-enrollment window. If you're buying for TWDL access specifically, contact the receiving campus before closing. Enrollment caps can fill before the school year starts.
Other Choice Options
- Frontier STEM Academy: Application-based magnet, grades 6-12
- Early College High School: Application-based, earn college credits through Tarrant County College
- Jerry Knight STEM Academy: Application-based, housed at Brooks Wester MS, grades 6-8 (not separately TEA-rated)
- Open Enrollment (K-4): Limited seats at non-zoned schools when capacity allows
Most students attend the school their address zones them to. Choice programs are competitive. Apply early, and keep a zoned backup plan.
Important Considerations for MISD Buyers
- Student-teacher ratios range from 10:1 to 18:1 by level. Traditional high schools run 17-18:1. Some elementaries run 10-13:1.
- Magnet placement is competitive. Frontier STEM and Early College require applications. Acceptance is not guaranteed.
- Most Mansfield proper homes are $400K+. Inventory below that point is limited within city limits. MISD extends into Arlington and Grand Prairie, where price points vary.
- Most campuses require driving. Few neighborhoods sit close enough to walk to school.
- Feeder patterns changed for 2025-26. A home that fed to one high school in 2024 may feed to a different school today. Verify with MISD's Find My Campus tool before signing.
Destination Mansfield: Out-of-District Enrollment
For the 2025-26 school year, MISD opened 11 elementary campuses to out-of-district students under a program the district calls Destination Mansfield. Families who live outside MISD boundaries can apply to enroll children in open seats at participating elementaries.
What Destination Mansfield Means for Buyers
- You do not have to buy inside MISD boundaries to access a participating MISD elementary
- Seats are capped per campus and filled by application
- Transportation is the family's responsibility (no bus service across district lines)
- Program renews year by year. Continued enrollment past elementary is not automatic.
- Check the current participating-campus list on mansfieldisd.org before applying. The list can change season to season
This matters when you found a home just outside district lines, when you're renting in Arlington ISD but want MISD schools for your K-4 child, or when you want to trial the district before buying in-boundary. Applications open through MISD's choice-enrollment portal. Seats are not guaranteed.
MISD vs. Arlington ISD vs. Grand Prairie ISD
MISD boundaries overlap Arlington and Grand Prairie, which drives a common buyer question: “I found a house in Arlington ZIP 76002, but is it really MISD?” ZIP code alone doesn't tell you. Here's the honest framing with verified 2025-26 district ratings.
| District | 2025-26 TEA Rating | Enrollment | A-Rated High Schools |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mansfield ISD | B (87) | 34,733 | 8 of 8 |
| Arlington ISD | C (78) | ~51,000 | 3 of 10 |
| Grand Prairie ISD | B (80) | ~25,000 | 3 of 6 |
Ratings sourced from TEA 2025-26 Academic Accountability (released Aug 2026). Cross-check with txschools.gov before committing.
Who Should Pick MISD
- Your top priority is a specific high school (Lake Ridge, Timberview, Mansfield, Summit, Frontier STEM, Early College). MISD has more A-rated high schools concentrated in a smaller geography than its neighbors: all 8 of 8, vs. 3 of 10 in Arlington ISD.
- You want dual-language elementary access. TWDL at D.P. Morris, Erma Nash, or Charlotte Anderson Prep is a specific entity not every neighboring district replicates.
- You want CTE pathway access. Ben Barber Innovation Academy is a dedicated CTE center; not every district runs one.
- You want a smaller-feeling district with big-district programs. At 34,733 students, MISD is roughly two-thirds the size of Arlington ISD and still runs 8 high schools.
When to Consider a Neighboring District
- A specific neighborhood you love zones out of MISD
- You need price points below $400K (more inventory exists outside MISD proper)
- A different district's campus is closer than any MISD campus and transportation matters more than the letter grade

“In Mansfield Independent School District, the education is second to none. A majority of the teachers at Lake Ridge High School are exceptional. In my AP classes, teachers prepare for the AP test in May by holding review sessions outside of school hours on the weekends.”
A Local Realtor's Perspective
“MISD's B rating hides A-level high schools. When buyers tell me they want a good school district, I always ask which campus matters most, then I run every address through MISD's zone tool before we write an offer. I check the 2025-26 rezoning list twice, because a house that fed to Lake Ridge last year may feed to Summit today.”
